After a safety briefing, you will board the helicopter and head south past Rigbys Island, Fraser Island and Flannagan Island towards Metung. Gippsland Lakes has a unique character, defined by the presence of the Mitchell River Silt Jetties just off the mainland at Eagle Point. These naturally formed silt banks run for over six kilometres, making them one of the longest in the world. Your pilot will continue along these unusually thin landforms and then onto the popular holiday destinations of Paynesville and Raymond Island, home to approximately 200 Koalas. Fly west past the Banksia Peninsula, dedicated to outdoor education, then onto Loch Sport and across to Ninety Mile Beach. Stretching as far as the eye can see, this endless paradise is home to pristine golden sands and brilliant blue waters. Track coastal past Ocean Grange, an off grid town only accessible by boat, along Bunga Arm, also known as the Back Lake and the Barrier Landing. Continue coastal past the iconic manmade Entrance that connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Strait and past Lake Bunga, not to be confused with Bunga Arm, Red Bluff and Lakes Tyers Beach before turning around over the Lake Tyers sandbar and inland back towards the airfield.
