The iconic Dargo Hotel, established in 1898, is nestled in the foothills of the legendary Dargo High Plains. The town of Dargo, with a population of approximately 150, is the entry point for the Alpine National Park, Avon Wilderness Park and Mitchell River National Park.
Depart from the Lakes Entrance Airfield towards The Silt Jetties, the second largest natural form of delta known as “digitate” of “finger-delta” that extends the Mitchell River into Lake King. After passing Bairnsdale, turn north flying over The Mitchell River National Park and then along the Lower Dargo Road to where the Dargo River meets the Mitchell River. Approaching Dargo from the south, circle over the iconic hotel before final approach to land within close walking distance to the hotel where you can relax and enjoy a counter meal. Allow plenty of time to absorb the history and memorabilia of the gold rush era.
Expected time on the ground at Dargo is approximately 1.5 hours.
